Character Creation
What you pick when first creating a character.
- ClassesThe game's 12 classes and 58 subclasses. Each page lays out progression level by level.
- RacesThe 11 races and 28 subraces available at character creation. Each page shows the race's speed, size and its own features.
- BackgroundsThe 11 backgrounds available at character creation. Each grants proficiency in two skills and its own set of inspiration goals.
- Ability ScoresThe numeric step of character creation. The starting values of the six abilities are set here; increases from races, backgrounds and feats stack on top of them.
- DeitiesClerics choose a deity at level 1 during character creation. The choice grants no mechanical advantage; it changes dialogue and how some characters treat you.
